What is PDR? Paintless dent repair (PDR) is the meticulous process a dent technician uses to remove minor dents and dings from metal body panels in your vehicle. It involves massaging the metal from the back side of the panel to its original shape without disturbing the factory finish. Highly skilled PDR techs use specially designed tools to achieve this amazing feat right before your eyes! What is a good candidate for PDR? Usually small dings and minor dents with no paint damage are good candidates. Also, some dents the size of a basketball and larger can be fixed with PDR. A qualified tech will have to inspect the damage to determine feasibility of using PDR versus traditional body repair. Another great application for PDR is to remove the natural catastrophe of hail damage from your vehicles metal body panels. What is not a good candidate for PDR? PDR is not meant to repair collision damage or major dents, nor if cracked paint already exists. This will need your local body shop’s attention. Damage that crosses from one body panel to another usually does not qualify, but there are exceptions. Only the vehicle’s sheet metal body panels are capable of repair with PDR. This excludes bumpers and plastic trim found on some vehicles from being repaired by PDR. A trained dent tech can assess your damage and recommend a quality body shop if PDR is not an option. What are some benefits of using PDR?
